magic three
Freedom! Nothing tastes so sweet. (Actually, I still have one more exam to go, but I feel like counting the holiday break starting yesterday… because really, what can you do for English exams?) Since my holiday break is incredibly short, I’ve decided to set a goal for myself to accomplish on a daily basis. Every single day, I need to do at least three things for myself. They can be little things that make me happy, short term goals completed, getting work done… that way, I’ll be cheerful every single day because nothing feels as good as having a full day. Every single break I’ve ever had in the past consisted of me staying at home, sleeping in and waking up glued to the computer. And I was happy like that, too. But now I see the potential goodness of keeping busy and staying productive. It’s time to grow up a little bit while still having fun.
Friday:
1) Installed and played Starcraft 2 – excellent fun! Although I’ve learnt the hard way that cheap mouses refuse to play nice with gaming… perhaps one of my future happy-goals would be to pick up a brand new mouse.
2) Went for a afternoon running session in the light rain. I’ve recently taken up jogging every other day, and there are always just a few shining minutes out of 45 painful ones that are exhilarating, which make this now one of my favourite activities to clear the mind.
3) Snowboarding at Grouse! This time, the night session was with PChow, who was on skis and an excellent companion. The rain, the soaking wet clothes, the slushy snow, and the hunger (we both hadn’t eaten before going up) didn’t matter once we got going and had an incredible time. PChow’s strength on skis and encouraging words motivated me to not be some pansy little girl snowboarder and to hit jump after jump with confidence, and nailing a jib feature I wasn’t prepared to do that day. Not only that, he was right there behind me coaching on riding switch, saying just the right words to keep me going. We also were the last ones to leave the mountain, which made me feel like I had made the most out of the night. Definitely one of my top favourite Grouse sessions ever.
Saturday (today): 1) Finally completed a time consuming and difficult achievement that had been on my mind for a long time – Portal 2′s “Smash TV” was to break all 11 screens found in Chapter 8. I killed myself so many times and considered giving up after more than an hour spent on it – but perseverance compelled me to stay focused.
2) Started and finished a book. Palace of the End is a compilation of three short achingly beautiful stage scripts, centralizing on the Iraqi invasion and the compelling tales behind the scapegoats and heroes. It’s highly violent, which makes it all the more frightening as the stories are re-enactments of real life controversies. Definitely an eye-opener and a tear-jerker as well. Had I not been studying with WLau, I would have cried in the middle of a Starbucks. Yup.
3) Went out of my way to grab a milk tea from Aberdeen centre! This delicious treat was something I had been craving for a while. It just topped off today as another perfect day.
Tomorrow: 1) Going to work (I adore every minute of my job), 2) Dinner with my favourite cousin of all time, 3) either finish another book, get the last Portal 2 achievement, make gifts for friends, paint over my headphones, another running session, go to kickboxing, watch some inspiring movies, go shopping… there are so many things I want to do. Can’t wait for another beautiful day.

we should go ride soon! im thinking lots of people? haha
YES!! I haven’t seen you in ages! Message me whenever you go up the next time. I’ll be on the slopes tomorrow afternoon as well!
